About me

About Me

Thank you for your interest in my profile. At the moment my practice is full. Please have a look at my associate colleagues, who may be able to support you.

I have a specialist interest and further training in neurodiverse conditions and the psychological and physical effects of trauma. I offer support to autistic and ADHD individuals and couples/mixed-neurotype couples, as well as those who are curious about possible neurodivergent traits.

My previous psychotherapeutic work has been within charity and university settings and before training as a psychotherapist I spent 10+ years in the corporate sector. I therefore understand work-place stress and the effects of burnout.

In my private practice, I see adult individuals and couples online and am passionate about focusing on the strengths of my clients in a neuro-affirming way, whilst exploring their difficulties. Building a safe and trusting relationship forms the foundation of the therapy so that more explorative work around trauma and mental health difficulties is possible. Strategies that support self-acceptance, identity development and emotional regulation for instance, are interwoven throughout.

My core therapeutic approach is Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and I also draw on Attachment Theory to explore how early life experiences with parents/carers/family systems, shape the beliefs about ourselves and our future relationships. Often this happens on an unconscious level and so I work collaboratively with clients to make sense of their thoughts, feelings and repeated patterns of behaviours to strengthen their internal worlds and external relationships. With couple work, I may be directive at times and offer ideas about techniques to try in the session or at home to improve communication. I also use other approaches I have had further training in, where this is relevant to individual needs and neurotype, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, psychoeducation, videos and worksheets as appropriate to support progress.

I am an Accredited member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and abide by their ethical and professional standards.
