Workshop details:

There is much research emerging into co-occurring mental health difficulties and neurodiversity whether this be mild to moderate anxiety and depression, or enduring mental health difficulties such as an eating disorder or disordered eating.

My clinical experience has predominately been focused on working with individuals with severe and enduring mental health difficulties, but in more recent years specifically clients with eating disorders and eating difficulties. Eating difficulties can present in many ways, and the function of perhaps restrictive eating patterns, binging, amongst others can vary from person to person. During my clinical experience, one thing I have been struck by is sometimes the lack of person-centred care that has been present for clients who have an autism diagnosis. This can be for many reasons, perhaps natural team shortages and additional pressures, lack of training in certain areas, amongst others. Therefore, the aim of my webinar is to discuss eating difficulties with clients who have an autism diagnosis, whilst also exploring how we can support clients by ensuring that we take into account their neurodiversity.
