Working with Neurodivergent Couples in Therapy – “How to Tango to Two Different Beats”

Our training in run online and offers a total of 5 CPD hours

Who is this Course for?

This course is ideal for counsellors, psychotherapists, and healthcare workers, who offer support to people who may be struggling to manage relationships impacted by neurodiversity.

The course provides additional CPD for practitioners who are already working with couples, as well as providing valuable information and practical tools for therapists working with individual clients who require guidance within their neurodivergent relationships.

Course Objectives

This course will enable practitioners to consider the additional challenges faced by couples, when one, or perhaps both partners are neurodivergent.  Working with this  client group requires an alternative approach. Therapists will learn how to help partners to develop a deeper understanding of one another, by improving their communication and emotional connection.  Practitioners will acquire new skills and gain an appreciation of relationships which acknowledge and respect differing individual needs.

Deborah and Ruth have many years of experience working with neurodivergent couples, as well as their own ‘lived’ experience.  They will provide practical tools for therapists, to help their clients enhance key aspects of their relationships and facilitate relational growth.

The course is written and presented with the help of our neuordivergent colleagues and includes a 'live' discussion panel, made up of individuals who will offer insights into how they manage their own neurodivergent relationships, and the role therapy has played.  For those who have previously attended our training, you will know how beneficial it is to hear the ‘lived’ experiences shared by our panel members.  This is a unique aspect of our course and our delegates will have the opportunity to ask panellists their own questions.

Benefits of Online Training

This course enables participants to interact and ask questions either discreetly in the ‘chat room’ facility, or online directly with trainers and panel members.  We launched this new training as a 'pilot' in November 2022, and received such a positive response from delegates, that are now including this much awaited course within our regular ongoing training schedule.

Course packs are emailed out to all delegates prior to attending our training, to allow time for these materials to be printed out and used as an aid for making notes when attending the course.

Details
